APPENDIX A. LOCAL DIRECTGOV PROJECTS
Project 1- The National Infrastructure and Engagement Project
This project is developing technology to seamlessly connect from Directgov to Local Authority websites, providing a solution that will automatically link an appropriate article from Directgov to the relevant information or transaction page on a Local Authority website.
This will offer citizens quick and easy access to all key Local Authority services (as defined in the Local Government Service List).
This project is being led by London Connects and the London Borough of Brent.
Project 2 - Neighbourhoods and Parish Councils Project
This project will add additional sections to the ENCORE (ENvironment and Community Online Residents E-Services) E-Community Publish System to enhance functionality. It will deliver a tool for Local Authorities to support Neighbourhoods and Parish Councils, by providing the capability to create and improve their online presence.
The project will also provide a toolkit, including a suppliers list of associated website providers, plus online training and a separate ‘Good Practice Guidance on Websites’ for Parishes, Neighbourhoods and the Voluntary & Community Sector.
This project is being led by Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, and Surrey ePartnership.
Project 3 - Home and Community Franchise Project
The ODPM’s Home and Community Franchise is co-ordinating and developing appropriate articles across all Directgov topic areas to support the work of connecting Directgov to Local Authority websites.
They are also developing the “Good Practice Guidance for Online Transactions to LA Web Managers”. This focuses on 12 types of transactions delivered by Local Authorities and gives examples of how to improve the online experience for citizens based on usability testing. A copy of this will be sent on CD to all Web Managers. It will also be downloadable from our website.
In addition to work on content, the team will be co-ordinating stakeholder, marketing and communications activity, ensuring that all Local Authorities are made aware of all the benefits of the Local Directgov Programme.
This project is being led by the ODPM's Home & Community Franchise
